Frequently Asked Questions:

Why do you officiate at interfaith weddings?

Children who marry out of their faith usually create tension within their families.
Even in today's world, which is more accepting of interfaith ceremonies, the tension still persists. To help dispel anxiety within each family a personal discussion of the ceremony and what it will contain is crucial to helping the families understand what they will be facing the day of the ceremony. The ceremony itself is structured to help give everyone something to hang onto to create a sense of comfort.

Love is usually stronger than religion. Religion helps to channel those feelings into what works for the couple that come from different backgrounds.

What is your level of experience?

I have been officiating at wedding for over 25 years. I have performed well over 1000 weddings from Jewish, interfaith, non-denomination and civil. I have officiated at weddings throughout the United States and other countries.

How does a Cantor's role differ from a Rabbi?

What music adds to a ceremony cannot be described through words, but in feeling. Where the words go to your brain and heart, the music goes to your soul. It is what everything else is built on when done properly.

When am I actually married?

You are legally married when the documents are signed before the family. It requires at least two witnesses to the license and the Ketuba. The ceremony allows everyone present to become a witness to the marriage.

How do you co-officiate with other clergy?

Christian clergypersons are integrated into the ceremony instead of just doing their part individually. The effect is that the service is divided equally. This way, if there is anything done in Hebrew it will be translated. Whatever creativity can be brought to the ceremony is actively sought after and incorporated as part of the whole. Love and sensitivity and honesty are always the glue that binds everything together. If there is any humor in the service, it comes out of the life experience of the couple.
